How to Figure Out Your Career Sweet Spot

Your career sweet spot is the intersection where your passions and values are rewarded. It’s also the place where you are in an environment that suits your personality and you are surrounded by people you that support and encourage you.

So how do we find this elusive career sweet spot?

I’m a big advocate for spending time diving into your DATA. That is really getting to know yourself by spending time doing activities that will help you determine your true desires (that’s the D) and passions and matching these with your natural or acquired abilities (that’s the A).

It’s also really valuable to understand your temperament (T) and think about the kind of environments where you are most productive and satisfied in. Finally, a focus on your assets (that’s the last A) so you can determine what advantages you have access to that will enable you to act now.

So spend time undertaking activities, reflections, mind maps, robust discussions, reading and don’t edit your thoughts or words… .yet. Give yourself time to see and feel what ideas drop out and which rise to the surface.

Then take time to explore these ideas through side projects.  How you explore is open-ended and depends on how much you need to confirm that this idea you have, is what you really want to do.

I'm interested in how we find ways to bring passion and curiosity into everyday lives. Embrace being restless, be inspired by others journeys and just have a go.

Above all I value the awake, curious and creative mind that cross pollinates ideas to join the dots and build new ideas.
