Video Presentation from Reinvent Your Career Expo June 2014
Exposing the Myths About Midlife Career Change
If you dream about a different career, but have not acted on this dream it may be because you have been put off by the myths we subscribe to or the mind games we play on ourselves when it comes to change. Once we get to our midlife there are many reasons we tell ourselves why we shouldn’t take the risk, but there are more reasons why we should confront those assumptions.
This presentation explores how the myths, combined with the mind games, can be the biggest impediment to a career transition. It then offers some practical ways you can break through these myths and create an amazing career you love and deserve to have.

Practical Modules to Guide Your Career Transition
Based on the Career Redesign Program methodology, these modules provide practical advice on how to progress to make your career change real.
Inspiring Reading
There's a lot of reference material out there and if you're serious about your career redesign you've probably already researched and dipped into many already. This provides the ones I recommend for their breathe and depth, common sense, humor and most importantly if they have assisted me to take action.
Inspiring Websites
Provides an introduction to inspiring people, projects and ideas to get to started on your next steps.
The single most important thing you can do to overcome fears and commence a pathway to transition is to ACT. The following websites might help you to get out of your head and into action mode.
Must See Videos
Provides a selection of highly recommended videos from national and international speakers who all have much to teach us.
Activities
Provides activities designed to immerse you and motivate you into action.
Online Tools
Provides a series of online tools that explore potential roles, identify personality types and learning styles.
Need Motivation?
Provides images, poems, stories, websites and resources I dive into when I need inspiration. If you are so moved, maybe send me some of your 'get out of bed' motivators. I'd love to receive them.
Been there - Done That (case studies)
Provides reflections from people I've interviewed who have been through a mid career or midlife career change, have survived the transition and are able to share what they have learnt from taking the plunge. They provide insightful and articulate messages that we can all learn from.
Side Projects
Provides clues on how to 'do' a side project. The aim of side projects is to discover if that idea/role/job and career you really love, can work in reality. If you think of this as a low-risk strategy you can explore without the fear of failure. You’ll also discover if this you love, continues to be loved, or becomes more routine once you have to do it over and over again. But you’ll also discover if there are elements of the project that you want to explore further and could become a revised project.
