Practical Modules to Guide Your Career Transition
These modules are provided to participants of the Career Redesign Program and Sweet Spot Careers book readers. They are read in conjunction with the program and book to provide additional motivation, structure and support.

The Career Redesign Program is based on a seven step methodology. Once you get a sense of why you are seeking change and getting to know yourself, the next step is to understand what is stopping you from progressing to explore and make real your career change desires.

What Is The Cost of Your Career Change?

Inevitably you will be confronted with the fears that can sometimes come with change.
This module focuses on some practical ways to overcome the financial risks associated with a career change.

This module includes an excerpt from “Money Does Grow on Trees: The Simple 7 Step Financial Plan” by Peter Ziggy.
We thank Peter for providing this content. For more details on his book go to www.peterziggy.com

What Is Your Relationship With Money?
In the previous module, you were
asked  to think about what would be the cost of a career change. In this Module you are asked to look at your relationship with money, not in monetary terms but in what long held beliefs you have, that may need to change, or at least be reconsidered, to be able progress through your career transition.

I truly hope it stimulates your thinking on your relationship to money when it comes to what could be stopping you in relation to a career change. Our approach to our finances is one of the factors that most often keeps us in unfulfiling roles and keeps us stuck when career transitioning.

Creating and Communicating Your Personal Profile
One of the most important aspects as your move through the career transition process is to ensure that you can present a new identity that is authentic and you are comfortable communicating to  future employers and /or clients.

These modules, in two parts, are about how you can manage how others will interpret your career change and how you can plan a process to ensure your career transition is understood by potential employers and clients. It provides activities and understanding about your brand redesign and the steps involved in this process.

Creating Your Personal Profile, Part 1
will assist you to
  • Determine what is your unique value proposition and articulating that what you offer is unique, special and/or worth buying;
  • Turn this into a personal brand through creating a personal brand statement.

Communicating Your Personal Profile, Part 2 will assist you to

Create a Side Project
These modules explore the fundamentals of getting a side project started and clues on how to get the best out of this time spent exploring.

Create a Side Project
This module explores the fundamentals of getting started through a side project. What exactly is a side project? It starts with a commitment to make time to explore. How you explore is open ended and depends on how much you need to confirm that this idea you have is what you really want to do… do you need to meet people already in the role, get practice in the role, get more skills to do the role, or just find out more?

The next suggested module 'It's not stalking , It's Interviewing'
explores further some simple ideas like a side project that  focuses on what many of us do daily, having a drink with someone we admire and just talking.

Create a Side Project by Volunteering
So you’ve got an idea of what you want to do, but there’s nothing like immersing yourself in the role to get a real sense of what it’s like. This module explores how to dip into roles as a means to go beyond exploring, into discovering if this is the career direction to take.

Time for a Career Buddy &/or Career Mentor
One of the most important ways to keep going on your career transition exploration is to have others with you on the journey. There is no doubt that having someone that you can chat to, canvas views and test ideas, will help you with decisions about how to progress your career transition.

How do you know your Side Project is working?
So you've started a side project. How do you know this idea is worth pursuing and what indicators can you use? This module gives you a process to measure whether this side project is providing you with the clues, data and information you need to help you discover if it will help you find your sweet spot.

Got a great idea you want to market test?
So you’ve got an idea but you’re not sure about the next stage. Can you turn this thing you enjoy doing into something people will pay for?

At this stage it’s not about creating a business plan, but more about playing and gathering feedback to see if the idea has merit through a side project. These two modules provide advice on what to test and then provide simple and cost effective ways to test your idea
.
