On-line Tools

This page provides a series of online tools that explore potential roles. The sites are free and the personality sites listed consist of shortened versions of the more complex tests on offer.  I'm not endorsing these websites or personality test approaches. They are provided purely as another means to help explore potential roles and should be used with caution and in combination with self reflective activities, further reading and action in the 'real world'.

This is another US site that provides detailed descriptions for career exploration and job analysis.

This site provides a list of careers group by similar occupations - a list of over 1100 careers.

Career Psychometrics:
This is a UK site that has a quick test where you answer multiple choice questions to tease out personality traits. It then provides you with a free report after you listen to a useful 14 minute promotional video.

This test gives you a list of statements and results match to your possible professions. This is another free site.

This two minute US career test asks you to rate your skills in 6 skills/interest areas. Very quick, very broad and more fun, but it gives quite specific career advice so take this into account if you use it as a guide.

Learning Styles:
There are a number of diagnostic tools available to help you determine what your preferred learning styles could be. Learning style theories in adult careers form a part of a much bigger range of concepts and other content concerning personality and  self-development, so make use of these to help find a theme or trend that can assist you further. As with any diagnostic tool, the advice is to not solely rely on this to make a decision.

VARK is a guide to learning styles built around a short questionnaire developed by Neil Fleming.

Signature Strengths- Want to know what your character strengths are?
